Satellite WiFi like you would have with a telephone line connection but you use the satellite broadband connection. It functions just like an ADSL modem and has almost the same internal parts. You can, in truth, attach your old ADSL internet modem to the satellite broadband dish equipment and just deactivate the ADSL part in the modem/router. So if you are having land line ADSL problems don't throw away that old router modem.
If you are going to use your old router then you will surely want to turn off the ADSL chip but frankly you are not compelled to do that. If the old router is linked to a network feed then it will take the network settings from that feed via the RJ45 cable connection.
The only real issue you may face is two DHCP servers being associated on your network. A DHCP server is present to issue unique network addresses to every user of the network. It is like using a network 'know by' identity being given out to each device connected on your network. If you have two of DHCP devices, on the same network, then you have two servers providing competing identities and it basically does not work. You must have only one DHCP server on a network and the existing ADSL modem DHCP feature must be switched off.
If you don't fancy messing about and configuring your old ADSL modem then have a look at purpose built devices. These simple devices connect to any network to turn it into a WiFi network. They are referred to as 'cable modems', or more properly a 'Wireless Access Point'. The benefit is their simplicity when linking to your network RJ45 socket. Getting satellite broadband with WiFi capabilities is an easy to do.
Use a home plug network?
If you want to keep away from using WiFi then you may use a home plug network. This sort of network sends high frequency signals through the electrical ring circuit of your home or office. The range is is confined to about 200 meters at best, identical to WiFi. Just like WiFi, security protocols are present to secure the mains network from your neighbours accessing the network.
