My sister and I planned a baby shower party for 1 of our nieces. We made the decision to have it in the fellowship part of the local church due to the fact that it was a large guest list. We had the baby shower on a Saturday afternoon. We didn't want to get too detailed with the baby shower decorations because we had to have the entire area cleaned out immediately after the party. We did want to have just a few decorations for baby shower to give the room a festive feel. There is a cradle that is passed to every new mother for the baby to sleep in for the first four to 6 weeks. This cradle was my mother's. We determined that we would use the cradle as the center of our baby shower party decorations.
The fellowship section has big round tables that seat ten folks. We moved one table off by itself to be the presents table. We covered this table with a smooth pink table-cloth; our niece knows she is having a girl. We set the cradle in the center of the table. We made the decision to use our presents for the baby shower party decorations. I had purchased a pink and white infant blanket, which we hung over the side of the cradle. We pinned some rattles and other baby toys to the blanket with diaper pins. We then showed the little ensembles that my sister had purchased. We finished the baby shower decorations for the presents table by putting a big teddy bear into the bassinet. It is so much fun to decorating for a baby shower!
For the food service table we had an array of fresh-cut flowers from the local florist. She used silky pink carnations, baby's breathe and daisies for the collection. We determined that no other baby shower party decorations needed to be put on this table. We did have pink napkins that we put on this table, together with a cake that was ornamented with a stork holding a small doll in a pink frosting blanket.
We had also gotten a corsage for our niece and 1 for every of the new grandmas to be. We felt that the room looked very nice and we would not have to spend plenty of time cleaning up baby shower party decorations because they would all be sent home as presents to our niece.
We had a big turn out for the baby shower. My niece got several very nice presents. She was glad that we had the baby shower in a space that was not small. As she progresses with the pregnancy she is feeling more claustrophobic. Within 30 moments after the baby shower party was over the fellowship section was cleaned up and we were going home.
